I've HAD to document a weird story that I needed to document regarding the internet speed on my computer. I've came home from BSG (charity speedrun event), and decided to stream on monday and tuesday, all went well! During BSG I decided to work on my stamina/body a bit since I had NO stamina at all, tachycardia on 1 day and whatever. So I bought a treadmill, came into the house on tuesday, which is nicely fast. On wednesday, I decided to stream but saw that the internet speed was really slow. 7/21 D/U. For reference, I have a 500/500 (more but we got high margins) line to my house, but because of powerline, I can only reach 50/50ish in my office. I have yet to pull a cable to the office for good speeds, but this is the easy solution. So I have rebooted every network device in the house, still issue. One of the LEDS on the Powerline adapter is turning red now. It works, but slow speeds. The wifi downstairs is amazing, so it had to be the powerline. Just randomly now, I wondered "why now?" I then decided to unplug the treadmill (which is downstairs), because that's the biggest change since the stuff happened. And... Instead of getting 7/21, I got 14/50. I think at the time of testing Steam was downloading something vehemothly cutting down on that, and if THAT is the root cause, I guess I'm unplugging the treadmill after every session. Despite having a plug with grounds plugged into a wall socket with grounds, I think they don't work because I do get shocks from the device on that 1 day I got it. Anyway, weird story. Internet speed dies because of a treadmill.
